An earthquake that tipped the scales at a magnitude of 5.9 has caused the lives of two people in Turkey particularly in Kutahya province. Accordingly, the quake struck a few moments before midnight local time. Its epicenter was reportedly focused on the town of Simav in Kutahya.
With the incident, people began running through the streets where a significant number of the population even spent the night in their cars because of different warnings sent out.
The confirmation of the two fatalities was made by Environment Minister Veysel Eroglu. He further pointed out that 79 individuals were injured and from that number, there is one who is in serious condition.
The said earthquake resulted in 50 aftershocks as stated by the Kandili Observatory based in Istanbul. It can be recalled that in 1999, Turkey suffered from two earthquakes both with a magnitude higher than 7; around 20,000 persons were killed. Eleven years later, 51 individuals were killed in another quake.
