After Apple’s efforts for damage control from the controversial iPod Nano and how it may catch fire when it overheats, the company is now being sued because of its newest tablet computer, the iPad.
According to a report on CNN.com, a group filed a class-action federal lawsuit in the district of Northern California to redress and end this pattern of unlawful conduct.”
In the lawsuit, the group accused the company of “misleading and deceptive advertising” as well as other breaches of the business and consumer protection law.
According to the lawsuit, Apple’s claims that “reading on the iPad is just like reading a book,” is false and deceptive because real books can be read under direct sunlight without the book shutting off automatically.
The instruction booklet of the iPad said the tablet computer might cease working when it is exposed to temperatures over 95F, or 35C. The lawsuit further states that the tablet computer “does not live up to reasonable consumer’s expectations created by Apple insofar as the iPad overheats so quickly under common weather conditions.”
Apple has sold more than three million units of the iPad.
