Alligators us city 300x225 Alligators Freely Roaming in US CitiesFour alligators which are believed to have been abandoned by their owners have been documented and have been located in US cities in the north, a stark contrast to their common habitat in the south. These reptiles were spotted and captured in unlikely places like a town in Massachusetts, a river in Chicago and even a street in New York City.

The culprit for the unusual movement was first thought of as an aftereffect of global warming but was later on, discounted because according to Kent Vliet of the University of Florida, when pet owners could no longer take care of their supposed pets, they cut the alligators free. The discovery in Massachusetts by a firefighter revealed that the three-foot long alligator was still wearing its spiked collar together with its broken leash. The one in New York was relatively calm as it rested underneath a car that was parked. The two-feet long alligator was temporarily taken custody by the local police station.

Amidst the chaotic situation, an animal rescuer popularly called Alligator Bob emerged as a volunteer worker. He was able to capture and rescue two alligators in the Chicago River and still continues to work on his newly found job but refuses to divulge his surname.

The usual areas associated with alligators are Florida, Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana.
