He was 60 years old.

The incident happened in August 26 when the car driven by the entertainer’s 19 year old daughter Aliyah avoided collision with another car; as a result, their car rammed on freeway’s side. Aliyah is in a stable condition.

In 2000, Schimmel had a Fox sitcom that had to be canceled because he had to undergo chemotherapy after being diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Eight years later, a memoir named “Cancer on $5 a Day” was released with Schimmel talking about his disease.

Just recently, he had a Showtime special named “Life Since Then” where he tried to inject comedy in his experiences in life while raising hope and awareness of cancer.
