The secret to effective, lasting weight loss is all in the mind.

Fairborn, OH ( Seerpress ) June 4, 2011 – From the Atkins to the Zone diet, there seems to be so many kinds of weight loss programme on the market that slimmers should burn off the fat just trying to keep up with all the latest fads.

Though they promise to banish the bulge for good through some form of restrictive eating, countless women throughout the UK can sadly testify that the quick-fix approach rarely works in the long term.

The reason for this – as radical new dieting book Food Training Revolution reveals – is that simply cutting the calories or ditching the dairy won’t fix the real root of weight gain: the mind.

Leading dietician P K Ojalae has spent many years helping both men and women achieve lasting weight loss by training their brains to eat correctly. As she says, “once the right mindset has been achieved, the rest will follow”.

Food Training Revolution is a one-stop, multi-media solution to staying healthy and slim. It targets the emotional triggers and bad habits that time and again derail diets and lead back to binge and comfort eating.

Within its pages you will learn how to overcome emotional eating, control sugar cravings and deceive your brain to get the best results for your body. The tried and tested techniques will boost the metabolism, increase energy levels and even enable people to lose weight while they sleep.

“You will never need any diets, diets pills, calories counts for the rest of your life,” says the author, who hit the national headlines recently with the launch of the UK’s first 24-hour binge helpline Buzz About Binge.

“Imagine yourself being your ideal weight, happy, confident and healthy. Like many things, it can be achieved just by having the right frame of mind.”

Fairfax, VA ( Seerpress ) june 04, 2011 – Mesothelioma is a rare condition that has been receiving a lot of attention lately. This disease can affect many of the body’s organs including the lungs, the stomach, and the heart. Mesothelioma is a potentially deadly disease and what makes it even more dangerous is the fact that it is very hard to diagnose. People have this condition for years and not even know it; the longer mesothelioma goes undetected, the more damage it does to the organs affected. The reason that this disease is so hard to diagnose is that it can often be mistaken for a minor illness.

Pleural mesothelioma is the most common form and it affects the lungs. If a person is suffering from pleural mesothelioma, he or she will most likely exhibit some of the following symptoms: coughing, shortness of breath, difficulty swallowing, and breathing difficulties. This disease is deadly, but it is also highly preventable. Health experts have stated that the only known cause of this condition is exposure to asbestos. Asbestos is a material that was once used for insulation and construction purposes and has been banned for several years now.

There are many people today that may be eligible to file mesothelioma lawsuits. There are two reasons why many individuals may be eligible to file lawsuits. The first reason is because employers knew that asbestos was dangerous mineral, but still allowed their employees to work without the proper protection. Another reason that there are so many mesothelioma lawsuits being filed is that asbestos has been banned for years now. Experts are urging anyone that has been diagnosed with this potentially deadly disease to contact a lawyer. It is very important that this be done as soon as possible because all states have a time limit on how long someone can wait to file a claim. It is also very important that a person select a lawyer that has had experience in dealing with mesothelioma lawsuits.

People who do not have the funds for a lawyer do not need to worry because they will not have to pay for anything unless they win the case. Filing a claim for mesothelioma may be a long, tiring, and drawn-out process, but it is worth the fight. Many people who have filed mesothelioma lawsuits were awarded thousands of dollars. This included money for medical bills, pain, suffering, and for the protection of the family. Filing a claim cannot completely erase the pain caused by mesothelioma, but it can help a victim recover from the damages it causes and give him or her the financial compensation that he or she deserves.

But a new study has found that aspiration, biopsy or thoracoscopy can inadvertently spread malignant cells into the other parts of the chest wall such as the intercostal muscle. Pleural mesothelioma can metastasize because the needle or instrument being used can seed other parts of body with malignant cells that contribute to the creation of more nodules.

In some cases, malignant spread was detected even beyond the chest wall tract and in the peritoneum. Researchers examined 14 patients who had pleural mesothelioma who underwent chest wall testing to confirm diagnosis. Seven of them had a portion of the affected lung removed. Two of the seven were eventually found to have metastasis to other parts of the chest wall.

Pleural mesothelioma spread can be mitigated through preventive radiation if the patient can tolerate it or a resection of the chest wall during extrapleural removal of a lung portion.

But a report suggests that tests may sometimes do more harm than good.

The Journal of Urology said that a prostate cancer screening test called needle biopsy can introduce deadly bacteria into the person’s bloodstream which can cause sepsis or systemic infection that can be fatal. Canadian researchers last year found nine men who had negative results died due to the infections.

More cases are being reported because the number of prostate cancer screening tests done around the world are also increasing. The rise in the number of cases suggests that the tests are being overused.

A needle biopsy of the prostate involves inserting a needle through the rectum into the prostate. Bacteria from the rectum can penetrate the gland and the blood stream and an infection ensues.

The severity of infection may be heightened if antibiotic-resistant bacteria is found in men who undergo this type of prostate cancer screening.

A recent study conducted shows that teenagers who chose to delay having sex or who professed teen abstinence may still take on risky sexual behaviors when they grow as adults. Accordingly, the proponents of the study also discovered that other factors that included the environment and genetics were the stronger contributing reasons as to sexual risk taking. It was not about being sexually promiscuous when one is younger.

In a news release, the researchers of the study acknowledged that it does not matter whether you delay sex or not in terms of having risky behavior in the future. They have also identified drug and alcohol use during sex, unprotected sexual intercourse and having multiple partners as examples of sexual risk-taking.

The findings, to be published via Psychological Science studied 1,000 pairs of fraternal and identical twins registered in the Minnesota Twin Family Study since they were eleven years old. The respondents were queried about numerous varying factors related to age at puberty and friendships. At age 24, they were asked about their sex lives and any risky behavior they were involved in.

In essence, the concept of teen abstinence may need to be re-evaluated.

A recent study conducted suggests that the outcomes of a first Prostate Specific Antigen or PSA test for men from 44 to 50 years old can actually estimate and predict the risk of dying from prostate cancer within the succeeding 25-30 years.

In the said research, the proponents of the study analyzed and evaluated collected blood samples from 12,090 Swedish men from 197 to 1986 when they were still relatively younger between aged 44 and 50. Some 5,000 men after six years had samples collected for the same purpose; samples were also collected from 1,167 males who were 60 years old.

Taken into consideration the results of the study, lead author, Dr. Hans Lilja remarked in a news release, “This research helps us distinguish between those men who may benefit from regular PSA screening for prostate cancer and those men who may not need to be screened so frequently.”

He further added, “Instead of testing all men each year or every two years, screening and surveillance efforts can be focused on early detection of prostate cancer in those men who are found to be at high risk of death from the disease.”

It has always been asserted in different studies made. To strongly point out such allegations, a new research suggests that babies who have been exposed to smoking particularly their mothers are at an increased likelihood of experiencing DNA change.

The modification called DNA methylation is able to alter a gene’s standard function. As a result, the proponents of the study suggest that the altered genes are the reasons behind some children who are more susceptible to developing certain illnesses as compared to others such as in the case of childhood asthma.

The researchers of the study analyzed information from questionnaires filled out by mothers as well as grandmothers of 173 children. The subjects had to assess their smoking habits while they were pregnant. In addition, samples of DNA were obtained from the cheek cells of both mothers and children. The samples were then evaluated after the collection.

The said study on smoking amongst pregnant women is certainly a welcome note to the increasing awareness of the ill effects of nicotine to humans.

A new research published in the journal, Archives of Surgery has found out that reminding healthcare personnel and staff about the costs incurred when taking blood samples (phlebotomy) from patients for standard and routine laboratory work-ups significantly reduced the said practice.

Dr. Elizabeth Stuebing of the University of Miami together with Dr. Thomas Miner of Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island wrote in their study, “The use of laboratory tests has been rapidly increasing over the past few decades to the point where phlebotomy is a substantial proportion of hospital expenditure, and much of it is unwarranted.”

Both proponents also asserted, “We focused on simply providing the economic implications of wasteful ordering habits, specifically regarding phlebotomy. This study successfully showed that even without technical and time-consuming interventions, test ordering behavior can be greatly reduced by making health care providers aware of costs.”

The study analyzed information gathered on daily phlebotomy as well as the associated charges for patients in the non-intensive surgical units at Rhode Island Hospital. The amount consumed on getting blood samples and laboratory exams for every individual and for all the patients were calculated.
