The 8 countries vying to be the 2018 and 2022 World Cup host were Australia, Belgium, and the Netherlands, England, Russia, Spain and Portugal, and the USA.

Big football stars and sports icons representing their respective countries attended the presentation to help and back up their country’s bidders, who are showing the world governing body with their detailed plans and themes for the FIFA World CUP.

Japan, Qatar and the Korean Republic, however, exclusively placed their bids to only host the 2022 sport event.

FIFA held the event in other continents in the past few years and the years to come. The 2010 FIFA World Cup was held in South Africa while the 2014 FIFA World Cup will be happening in Brazil.

There’s a growing speculation that the finals will once again be held in Europe by 2018. This will happen before the World Cup officially goes to Asia, specifically in the Middle East by 2022.

England is once again among the favorites to win the bid for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. It was the football superstar David Beckham who personally handed over his country’s bid to Sepp Blatter, FIFA’s President.

It was Beckham who was the made Britain’s successful bid for the 2012 Olympics. The football superstar said his country’s love of football would be the key to win the bid again. “We have a lot of passion for the game and passion for bringing the biggest sporting event to the country,” said the former football captain of Manchester United and Real Madrid teams.

Beckham, who was hired by the Major League Soccer of the LA Galaxy and now sporting a minor Achilles injury, said, “football is something that runs throughout our country, our veins, it’s something that we were brought up with”, referring to his British homeland.

Mr. Sepp Blatter revealed to the media that he received a call from the newly elected British Prime Minister David Cameron, who expressed his utmost support for the England bid.

Dutch and Belgium join their bids and made the “environment friendly” theme a key theme in to win in their respective arguments. Dutch football legends Ruud Gullit, Johann Cruyff and former Belgian international Paul van Himst rolled their bicycles on the lobby of the headquarters in Zurich just to underline their “environment friendly” message.

Gullit said they will be giving two million bikes to all the fans, so they can go everywhere and anywhere they wanted to during the World Cup series.

Other joint bids came from Spain and Portugal hoping the FIFA committee will see the same approach that saw Japan and South Korea successfully host the 2002 World Cup.

The final results and decision will be made by FIFA’s 24-strong ruling executive committee, which will vote for the host countries on December 2, 2010.
