Formerly called ProScan Distribution, iData is a distributor of mobile technology and automated identification products for the reseller market. The agreement makes iData the first VAD that offers Motion Computing’s computer tablet PC in the region.

Motion tablet PCs cater to the mobile workforces market segment. Each unit is lightweight for easy portability yet rugged enough to withstand the elements. Its integrated system allows users to access, collect, and share data across mobile environments such as in construction, health, manufacturing, hospitality, government, education, distribution and point-of-sale systems.

The computer tablet PC is promoted by Motion as a durable, portable, and functional mobile computing product.

“The need for a variety of fast and easy to use mobility solutions for gathering and sharing data across field services is fuelling explosive growth in the worldwide mobile computing industry,” says Heinrich von Solms, managing director at iData.

“Companies today depend on an increasingly mobile workforce and critical deals take place far beyond the walls of the traditional office,” von Solms said. He claims that over seven in 10 companies are giving their employees mobile computing and communication devices.

Motion Computing has a 42 percent market share for this sector according to iData. The latter is confident they can generate channel sales in South Africa for the computer tablet PC of its partner. In addition to mobile computing technologies, the distributor also sells global brands of bar coding, data collection, RFID, and wireless networking.
