Italian Diocese Denounces Gay Priests

Panorama 300x226 Italian Diocese Denounces Gay PriestsThe Catholic Church through one of its diocese has expressed vexation over the revelations of three homosexual priests in a magazine article.

Panorama’s “Gay Priests’ Nights on the Town” disclosed an interview focusing on the alleged misconduct of the priests specifically tackling their sexual encounters even in a church building and bar trips. The interview which lasted over a month revealed pictures of the three priests involved. To further prove the point, the research was purportedly recorded using hidden cameras.

The diocese claimed that the acts of the “double life” co-priests affect the honor of all the others and that they should not be allowed to practice the vocation. Priesthood disallows any kind of sexual activity outside marriage and also considers homosexual acts as uncommon, therefore, unnatural.

In as much as the group claims no ill will against the priests and their confessions, it still is “saddened and troubled” by the news. Further, the group promised to make follow-ups regarding the case.

Pope Benedict XVI, on the other hand has issued a statement in 2005 barring actively gay priests in seminaries. He was also quoted in saying that gay marriage is a threat to the common good.

If only the Roman Catholic Church would handle their child rape cases with the same zeal that they are sure to handle this issue, they might have a moral leg to stand on.

But I think society knows better.

  2. Jeez, don’t understand the photo, is that a nun?

It’s the 21st century, and if the Catholic Church wants to remain relevant to real people, it should allow priests to wed, and women to be ordained too.

Onward to full civil and marriage equality rights in the 21st century.

And to the anti-marriage flat eathers, find another issue to focus on in the 21st century. And kudos to CT, a marriage equality state since 2008.

If only the media in all other countries would have the courage and the integrity to emulate Italy’s Panorama! Expose the homosexual liar priests for what they are. Then end the celibacy rule and let healthy heterosexual, married men be clergy.

    Joe:

You have no understanding of the Catholic Faith as indicated by your comments. You have put the cart before the horse. The reason for celibacy is to find real men who can live as eunuchs so as to concentrate first and foremost on their responsibility to the flock. As for women priests, again for the nth time: This was Christ’s choice and the Church cannot change it. It’s too bad that the sex-saturated thinking of most people taints their beliefs and knowledge. It is best to be silent and kneel to God asking for Wisdom. You’d be surprised at the results.
