They noted that a possible major earthquake will occur soon, comparable to the one that occurred in San Andreas, which splits the state.

Based on the data gathered by researchers, the anticipated earthquake will be much closer to the next San Andreas earthquake and its should serve as a wake up call to the complacent Californians on the risk associated with major earthquakes.

She urged individuals to be prepared, to store ample water and other basic supplies on hand, to safeguard properties in advance and to establish family emergency plans. For lawmakers, she suggested the imposition of policies that requires earthquake risk signs on unsafe properties and to mandate inspectors to disclose degrees of risk in various home-sale deals.
