Receiver of the NFL Club ‘Denver Broncos’ Kenny McKinley was found dead at his apartment in Arapahoe Country (Colorado) at 3:35 p.m. local time. The preliminary cause of death of the 23-year old player is believed to be a suicide, but the investigation continues.
‘Denver’ drafted McKinley in 2009 (141st overall). Last season he hardly played because of a knee injury. Before the season, ‘Denver’ again added McKinley in the list of injured players.
Kenny had a promising future on the football field, but more important, he was a great teammate whose smile and personality could light up the room. This is a tragic loss for our football team, and his family is in all of our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time” said head coach Josh McDaniels.
McKinley is the third player of Denver to be killed in the past four years. On January 1, 2007 Durrant Williams was shot and killed in downtown Denver, and a month later, Damien Nash died suddenly while playing basketball.
