Japanese electronics maker Sony Corporation seems to have come a full circle after about three decades. The company in the early eighties of last century came up with walkman series of portable stereos that revolutionized the music industry.
Now, reports are coming that Sony Ericsson will soon launch a new mobile phone from the Walkman series running Google Android operating system.
It is reported that music smartphone will be named as W15. The smartphone will be based on XPERIA X8 that will be equipped with a 3-inch capacitive touch screen with 320 × 480 pixels (HVGA) resolution, GPS-receiver, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, 3.2 megapixel camera, FM-tuner with RDS and 128 MB of internal memory.
Walkman W15 gets 600-megahertz processor and a dedicated audio chip. In addition, it will have the interface adapted to work with music content.
According to preliminary information, the announcement of new gadget Walkman W15 can be held later this month or in May. However, nothing has been reported about the price and release date of this smartphone.
