Blackberry Playbook Tablet PC BlackBerry Playbook demonstrated at Adobe MAX conferenceCanadian manufacturer of BlackBerry smartphones Research in Motion (RIM) has presented its tablet PC, called PlayBook, reports BusinessWeek.

Demonstration of “tablets” was held during a presentation by Co CEO of RIM Mike Lazaridis at the Adobe MAX conference. In his speech, the top manager of the company said that the tablet is capable of playing videos from video sharing website YouTube, as well as working with the medium Adobe AIR. However, Lazaridis kept silent regarding the date of launch of device.

RIM had announced PlayBook in the end of September during the developer conference BlackBerry DEVCON 2010. BlackBerry Tablet OS is used as a software platform in the tablet, and is based on the QNX Neutrino microkernel with the support of POSIX specification and OpenGL. It supports Adobe Flash Player 10.1, Adobe Mobile AIR and Java. Web browser of the “tablet”, built on the WebKit, is compatible with markup language HTML5.

PlayBook is equipped with two video cameras of resolution three and five megapixels, which can simultaneously record 1080p HD-format video. The tablet has a seven-inch capacitive touch screen with 1024 by 600 pixels and support for multitouch technology, wi-fi and Bluetooth modules, MicroHDMI and MicroUSB ports, stereo sound. The gadget has one gigabyte RAM and one gigahertz processor on ARM Cortex-A9 architecture. Sales of the new product are scheduled for early 2011.

  1. 1024×600 screen resolution is not high enough. Make it like apples new retina display, and you will have something!
