The Big Apple is all abuzz as the countdown to the wedding of Chelsea Clinton and Marc Mezvinsky begins.
Clinton, 30, will wed the 32 year old investment banker in Rhinebeck on Saturday.
The family of the former first daughter is tight-lipped regarding the details of the much awaited nuptials as if they were state secrets, and is adamant in releasing any information. Hilary Clinton, the Secretary of State, said she was “under very strict orders” to keep mum about it.
The “strict orders” seem to apply to everyone planning the wedding. Vendors, like florists, cake-makers and the like refused to give any comment about the wedding. Even the exact wedding venue is not known.
The silence and secrecy only served to spark further speculation.
People in Rhinebeck are putting up signs on their windows congratulating the couple and accepting interviews from television stations, in hopes that the wedding, as well as the influential wedding guests, will boost the town’s popularity.
According to the local media, the wedding might take place at the Astor Courts, a classy estate more than a century old near the Hudson River.
Local florist Lynn Lobotsky, said in an interview with CNN that she saw many people working 24/7 along the stone wall near the estate.
“They even worked on Sunday,” said Lobotsky.
Furthermore, the FAA has issued a no-fly-zone order around Rhinebeck last weekend. According to the FAA website, the order was for “temporary flight restrictions for VIP movement.”
According to Robert Gibbs, the White House Press Secretary, President Obama won’t be attending the wedding.
