Fans that followed Teenage Philippine singing sensation Charice Pempengco in her Twitter account were outraged as the teen star underwent a cosmetic surgery as an advance preparation for her debut on the U.S. top television show “Glee”.
The 18-year-old, who is popular by her first name, underwent minor surgery in Manila during the weekend to narrow her normally rounded face. Charice also had Botox injections to control the muscles in her face.
During an interview, Charice stated the reason why she underwent cosmetic surgery at such a young age. She said, “It’s one of the big preparations we are making for Glee and of course I also want to look fresh on cam.”
However, fans flooded the teen star’s official website as her decision became the most talked about topic. With this, many have bewailed the fact that she is not confident with her natural look and that she feels the pressure to undergo cosmetic surgery.
A fan, who used the name Marie, wrote in Charice’s official website, “At a very early age, she was made to feel inadequate and was told time and time again that although she had a killer voice, she did not possess the looks to make it as a ‘star’.” Marie further wrote, “I can’t even begin to imagine what that did to this child’s self-esteem.”
More concern to Charice surfaced in her other fan sites. A fan using the name Mirana wrote on a fan site, “I hope she doesn’t change or undergo any more treatment and change herself… she’s just fine as it is… listen to yourself and not be affected by other opinions.”
Furthermore, the issue regarding Charice Pempengco’s decision to undergo cosmetic surgery was one of the top ten global topics in the fast growing social networking site, Twitter at one time this week.
According to her surgeon Dr. Vicky Belo of the Belo Medical Group in Manila, Philippines, the cosmetic surgery was meant to narrow the face of the teen singing sensation since her face was naturally round. Also, she adds that the botulinum toxin injections, which immobilize some muscles, complete the surgery. Furthermore, she guarantees the fans that the Botox injections will not affect the voice of the teen singer.
Charice is set for the next season of Glee, which will be aired on September 21 as announced by Fox.
Dude, time and time again, this is not COSMETIC SURGERY. In the outset of the news, FANS reacted instantly without researching what BOTOX means. Charice visited her godmother (Dr. Belo). It was then when Dr.Belo noticed Charice jaw muscles were bulging due to too much gum chewing. She had to relax those muscles. It’s not even a surgery for crying out loud!
Charice was interviewed right on the spot and although she made comments about glee, seriously, she’s thinking out loud like most of us. She’s probably not even serious about it.
Move on already!
Charice, you have a beautiful face and a beautiful smile. There are other ways to beautify ourselves should we need to face the camera….Make up tricks will do it… But surgery???—not the safest. America accepted you the way you came into the screen… Please… don’t overdo it. We love you just the way you are. Remember the late Michael Jackson…. Please don’t go that far. For crying out loud, why can’t you guys drop this long dead botox issue. It is an OOOOOOLLLLLLDDDDDDD story that brings nothing constructive to Charice image. Unless you guys have nothing better to write about.
There is a big difference between Botox and a Surgery….
Botox is a chemical that they inject in your muscles either to make it stiff or make it mobilize and Surgery? have you heard of Regine Velasquez? She had at least couple of them to look the way she looks now. Nobody seem to mind. Her Nose, Face Lift, Brow Lift. Charice had a what you call softening the muscle procedure it made her face rounder because of her muscles became more stiff from chewing too much gum. Her face way back when she was young was narrower but since she is getting to the age where her muscles do not adapt easier to changes because she is getting older (remember she is no longer a child she is a woman now) is affecting her muscles to bloat causing her face to look bloated as well specially along her jawline.
